Facebook’s Solar powered drones are now ready to serve internet to the world. Facebook already announced an year ago that they are working on solar drones which can provide internet access to poor countries.
As part of their internet.org program to connect the world, Facebook has already done a lot of work to bring everyone online. These unmanned aircraft that can beam internet access down to people from the sky.
Today, Mark Zuckerburg shared that they’ve successfully completed their first test flight of these aircraft in the UK. According to mark Zuckerburg, Aircraft like these will help connect the whole world because they can affordably serve the 10% of the world’s population that live in remote communities without existing internet infrastructure.
The final design of Drones will have a wingspan greater than a Boeing 737 but will weigh less than a car. They will be powered by solar panels on its wings and They will be able to stay at altitudes of more than 60,000 feet for months at a time.
These solar powered drones are same in concept of Google’s project loon (Ballon – Powered internet) .
