In their forthcoming 1.2 patch notes, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has outlined its plans for improving Cyberpunk 2077. The announcement, written as an in-universe newscast, describes planned changes to the quality of living including a police system, which would not occur instantaneously when committing a crime and an enhanced driving experience.
Although the game has been criticized for being typically buggy – and in some ways unfinished – CDPR seems to be attempting to deal with some of the best-known issues. There’s a joke in the universe anecdote in the blog post about the increased police response that captures an experience many players have had:
“My choom, Jake, was in a shoot-out with Tyger Claws the other day, when he missed a shot and hit a pedestrian on the other side of the street. In an instant, the NCPD swarmed up on him and put him down. It’s like they appeared out of thin air right behind his back! It’s too brutal of a response for a regular accidental murder if you ask me!” — Mike from Kabuki, 28.
The driving experience is not very excellent in the game as well. CDPR hopes to improve it by increasing the direction reaction and making the car disconnect automatically if it is found resting on a barrier or on other objects (you can see a comparison video below). There are many other driving problems (e.g. collusive detection), which have to be dealt with before you drive, even though better steering may help.
CDPR also appears to have heard feedback that this change list was very small for a full release; it was tweeting hours after we wrote this post that “full patch notes will arrive later.”
The game was removed from the PlayStation Store about three months ago, because of the enormous number of bugs (and the fact that it was nearly unplayable on a base PlayStation 4). Until now Sony and CDPR have not reacted to the comment request on when the game is back on the platform, so it is not clear if it would be sufficient to return the game to the online store of the platform.
