In a triumphant return to one of the major sporting franchises that contributed to the brand name, Electronic Arts have announced a new game to be called PGA Tour. EA’s Tiburon studio has recently been creating the new “next-gen video game of golf,” working on the Madden and NBA Live series but also was the leading game studio in EA’s new generation of PGA games.
The latest game with the whole title EA Sports PGA Tour is announced in a new press release “The PGA Tour, including The Players Championship games, FedExCup Playoffs, and other memorable events, will allow golf fans to develop their virtual career and enjoy the sight, sound, and excitement. The game will also feature several of the world’s most popular courses, where fans will play golf with some of their greatest names.”
The PGA Tour has now been signed with a long-term agreement and the game is based on the Frostbite engine of the business. Cam Weber, EA Sports EVP, and GM said, “We couldn’t be more excited to expand our sports portfolio with a new golf title on next-gen hardware. Our team of passionate golf fans is meticulously recreating the world’s top courses such as Pebble Beach, and we can’t wait to give fans the opportunity to compete on some of the most iconic PGA TOUR courses and win the FedExCup.”
An Official dedicated page of the PGA Tour has been raised by EA Sports, do have a look at it.
About EA Sports:
EA Sports is an Electronic Arts division that develops and publishes sports video games. Electronic Arts was once a publicity package under which they sought to mimic real-life sports networks by naming themselves the “EA Sports Network” (EASN), with photos or backing from true commentators like John Madden, and quickly became a sublabel of its own, launching game series like FIFA, NHL, NBA Live and Madden NFL.
Unlike some other game companies, EA Sports has no special-ties with one platform which ensures that all games are published on the best-selling active platforms, even long after they have been abandoned by most other companies. FIFA 98, Madden NFL 98, NBA Live 98, and NHL 98 were released for the Sega Genesis and the Super NES throughout 1997; Madden NFL 2005 and FIFA 2005 had PlayStation releases in 2004 (FIFA 2005 and Madden NFL 2005 were also the last two PlayStation titles to be released), and NCAA Football 08 had an Xbox released in 2007.
Traditional games like FIFA, Madden NFL, Titanfall, Battlefield have been developed by EA Sports for videogame consoles like Sony Playstations or Microsoft Xbox. Several secular changes in the market led by the internet industry affected the business.
Yet EA was making mistakes as it decided to switch to digital distribution. The organization recognized its lack of preparedness to switch to digital distribution. The standard of its games suffered and their customer loyalty decreased due to their lack of preparedness and management. EA was named in the Consumerist Blog in 2012 and 2013 as the “Worst Company in the USA.” One of the main concerns consumers have was that in a lot of titles, the company charges gamers more for purchasing more tales. The Business viewed these sales as creative and incremental for core games, but consumers assumed that it was EA who was attempting to nickel and dim them.
