Tiktok Becomes the Most Downloaded App of 2021 First Half

TikTok was the most profitable and most downloaded app in the world during 2020, and it has maintained that position in the first half of 2021.

According to Sensor Tower statistics, TikTok was the most downloaded non-gaming app in the world for July 2021, with more than 63 million downloads globally.

According to the study, the greatest number of installations came from Douyin in China, accounting for 15 percent of all installations, followed by the United States, accounting for 9 percent. Including Douyin on iOS in China, it was the top-grossing non-game app in the world in the first half of 2021 across both the App Store and Google Play, according to App Annie.

In their study, Sensor Tower said that “consumers are expected to have spent more than $920 million in TikTok during the first half of the year, up 74 percent when compared to the same time last year.”

In addition, the app received the most downloads globally in the first half of this year, with about 384.6 million downloads across both app stores. Downloads, on the other hand, were down around 38% year on year, compared to over 619 million downloads in the first half of this year. Sensor Tower said that this was due to the app no longer being accessible in some countries, such as India.

With more than 53 million downloads, Facebook was the second most widely used non-gaming app in the world in July 2021, behind only Google Play. The country with the greatest number of installations for the app was India, with 27 percent of all installs, followed by the United States, with 7 percent.
