It was previously stated by the business that it will now provide end-to-end encryption for conversation backups stored in Google Drive and iCloud, as well as other cloud storage services.
WhatsApp claimed to have been the first and only large-scale messaging software to provide end-to-end encryption for conversation backups as well as messages themselves.
“We’re introducing another layer of privacy and security to WhatsApp: an end-to-end encryption option for the backups users choose to keep in Google Drive or iCloud,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement on adding encryption to cloud backups.
