Although this did not occur, talk is rife about when the Apple phones will be equipped with the capability that many other smartphone flagships currently have. An impending rumour says that the iPhone 14 series, as well as Apple’s future mixed reality headset, will launch in the first half of 2019.
For those who are unfamiliar with Wi-Fi 6E, it is the next generation of Wi-Fi networking that allows for a 6GHz connection to be established. In practice, this translates to higher Gigabit speeds, lower latency, and the capacity to support a greater number of devices than is achievable with Wi-Fi 5 technology. Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, has now predicted that the company will join this list next year. Of course, the update will be heavily emphasised on the next iPhone lineup as a whole. Apple, on the other hand, may have a more significant application for the Wi-Fi 6E – their mixed reality headset.
Apple’s first-ever product for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) is scheduled to be released in the near future, according to industry sources. Numerous rumours and predictions have already surfaced about it, including one from prominent Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, who predicts that Apple would introduce the gadget “as early as next year.” Furthermore, he claims that Apple would most likely charge a premium for the gadget and that it will include “advanced CPUs, screens, sensors, and avatar-based functions” in addition to other features.
This headgear will most certainly serve as the entry point for Apple users into the metaverse, and in order to do so, it will require extremely high internet connectivity. Apple’s decision to equip the headset with Wi-Fi 6E technology may be the key to providing customers with a seamless experience in the future.
The fact that these headsets will be connected to iPhones in order to function means that Apple will have a compelling motive to provide Wi-Fi 6E capability to iPhones in the coming year.
