The *99# service makes banking services available to everyone in the country. It is provided by 83 major banks and four telecom service providers and is available in 13 languages, including Hindi and English. Here’s how to set it up and start making offline UPI payments.

How to set up offline UPI payments?

On your smartphone or feature phone, enter *99#. However, you must use the same phone number that has been connected to your bank account in order for this feature to work. Then, select your preferred language and enter your bank’s name. You will be presented with a selection of bank accounts associated with your phone number; select the one you wish to use by selecting the appropriate option.

How to pay offline using UPI?

To send money, dial *99# on your phone and enter 1. Select your preferred choice and enter the UPI ID/phone number/bank account number of the individual to whom you wish to send money. Then enter the money as well as your UPI PIN. Your payment will be processed successfully, and the transaction charge will be a maximum of Rs. 0.50 per transaction for using the *99# service.
